Dear UCA Parents and Guardians,
We would like to bring to your attention that there is a spread of the Coxsackievirus A16, which is the most common cause of hand, foot, and mouth disease. This virus is highly contagious and can spread rapidly among children, particularly in schools and other crowded settings. The symptoms typically include fever, sore throat, mouth sores, and a rash on the hands and feet. Children may also experience loss of appetite, lethargy, and irritability.
If your child exhibits any of those symptoms, please seek medical attention promptly and do not send them to school. To prevent the spread, it is important to practice good hygiene, such as washing hands frequently with soap and water, avoiding close contact with others who are sick, and maintaining cleanliness of surfaces. UCA has always implemented health preventive measures by maintaining sanitation and minimizing potential student exposure to illnesses. We thank you for your attentiveness and cooperation in ensuring a shared responsibility to promote a healthy and safe environment for our community.
