Dear UCA Parents and Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones doing well. I am writing to inform you about an important update regarding the operations fees of our school. As you are aware, our school has been facing financial challenges due to the devaluation of the Lebanese Lira currency. The economic situation in Lebanon is continuing to force us to make some very tough choices. Despite the challenges, we are devoted to preserving excellence and integrity in the quality of education provided by our school, and we remain fully committed to serving our students and our learning community to the best of our abilities.
Since 2019, we have been cognizant of the need to minimize financial burden on our parents while coping with the economic crisis and ensuring the school’s continued operation and preservation of high-quality instruction. Despite facing considerable losses, UCA has tried to balance fairness with the expenses required for the school to effectively function and maintain its standards. You are all aware that the value of the fees in Lebanese Lira is now a fraction of what it was at the date the tuition fees were published. Due to the situation’s continuous deterioration, it is imperative that we work together to create the optimal learning environment for our students. As previously mentioned in the announcement of the Operations Fees sent on July 6, 2022, that “operations fees may need to be adjusted based on currency fluctuations and global fuel costs”, UCA will implement a $200 extra operations fee to be paid in cash in dollars to the Business Office no later than April 6, 2023. We realize that this may require significant arrangements and strategic planning among some of our families, and for that, we thank you for understanding.
Please know that this decision was not made lightly, and we have explored all possible options before coming to this conclusion. We want to assure you that we are not placing the burden solely on your shoulders. As a school, we are also taking a share of this increase and making adjustments to our budget to help offset the cost. Therefore, this fee is crucial to ensure that our school continues to operate and to provide our students with the best possible education, during these tough circumstances. Please also note that should it be determined necessary; operations fees may need to be readjusted based on currency fluctuations and global fuel costs.
We value your partnership and support, and we appreciate your understanding as we work through these challenging times.
